Head of the Institute for Interactive Systems & Data Science

Univ.-Prof. Dr Stefanie Lindstaedt is the Head of the Institute for Interactive Systems & Data Science (ISDS) at Graz University of Technology and CEO of Know-Center (, Austria‘s leading Research Center for Data-driven business and Big Data Analytics. By annually undertaking more than 50 applied science projects Know-Center effectively bridges the gap between science and industry, already since 2001.

Roland Sommer
Managing Director of the Austrian Platform Industry 4.0

Roland Sommer serves as Managing Director of the Austrian Platform Industry 4.0 since October 2015. The platform is a public private partnership that aims at improving framework conditions for the introduction of digitalization (‘Industry 4.0’) bringing together relevant stakeholders in Austria. The focus of the work is based on innovation in production technologies and business models on the one hand and high-quality working conditions on the other hand.

Prior to this function he worked as Director of Public-Private Affairs for AVL List GmbH. AVL List is the world's largest independent company for the development of powertrain systems with internal combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems.

From 2004 -2011 Mr. Sommer worked as senior policy adviser for the Federation of Austrian Industries; there he was responsible for research and innovation policy, both on the national and the EU level. From 2000 to 2004 he was employed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency respectively its predecessor institution.
Mr. Sommer studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Austria, Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and the University of London, UK. He is active in various national and international bodies.


Andrea Cruciani

Agricolus co-founder and CEO, member of FIWARE Foundation BoD. He runs the international business area and the financial aspects of the company. He has a technical background with experience in multi-device applications Development, Enterprise Architectures, Cloud Computing and GIS.
He is an expert in Innovative Startup Evolution and scaleup. During years Andrea worked with Public Administration, multinational companies, NGOs and SMEs. Finally, Andrea is a collaborator of the University of Perugia, where he often comes as an invited speaker for seminars on entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

Andreas Hedrich
Chief Technology of UBIMET

Andreas Hedrich is the Chief Technology Officer of UBIMET, responsible for the global IT infrastructure, three data centers on three continents and turning 70 TB of weather data into relevant weather information daily. He has been with UBIMET for 6 years. Before joining UBIMET, Andreas worked as a freelancer and as a member of research staff at the University of Vienna, where he graduated in Scientific Computing.

Prof. Dr-Ing. Boris Otto
Executive Director of ISST
IDS - Data Sovereignty for Business Model Innovation

Boris Otto is Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST and Full Professor for Industrial Information Management at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University.

In his research, he focuses on the role of data in the industrial enterprise and in business networks. Examples of current research topics are data governance, data sovereignty, data valuation as well as innovative information system architectures. Furthermore, he studies digital transformation paths of industrial enterprises towards Industry 4.0.

Boris Otto was awarded a Dipl.-Ing. oec. degree from TU Hamburg-Harburg, University of Hamburg and HAW in Hamburg. He holds a Dr.-Ing. degree from the University of Stuttgart and earned his post-doctoral qualification (habilitation) and the evening legend in Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen.

Christian Hofmann
TIETO Austria

Christian Hofmann is head of the manufacturing industry business at Tieto Austria, a subsidiary of the leading North European IT software and services company Tieto Oyj. In his position he supports industrial players in their efforts to envision, prioritize and execute on a digital transformation journey. Prior to that, Christian has spent more than ten years in Scandinavia, accompanying industrial early adopters of IoT and BigData that managed to change their business models from traditional machinery and equipment suppliers to professional service companies – and succeeded in establishing new ecosystem businesses. In addition, Christian leads the expert group “business model innovation” of the Austrian platform “Industrie 4.0”, where a distinguished set of professionals of the field provides guidance and shares expertise among platform members.

Thomas Hahn
Corporate Technology Siemens

Thomas Hahn, born in 1960, has been Chief Software Expert at Siemens AG since 2011. After studying computer science at Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen he joined the company in 1986 and worked as a product developer in the field of industrial networks in Erlangen. In 1993 he moved to Nuremberg, where he worked in product management for SIMATIC and as a project manager responsible for the development of SIMATIC STEP 7. From 1997 he worked as Head of Development at Traffic Control Systems in Munich for two years. In 1999 he returned to Nuremberg, where he was Head of Software Development for Industrial Automation Systems. He held this post until 2011. In addition to his function as Chief Software Expert, he was Head of the Business Analytics and Monitoring technology field from 2011 to August 2013. Beyond his activities at Siemens, Thomas Hahn is a member or board member of various bodies, including the OPC Foundation, Big Data Value Association, Openlab CERN and Platform Industrie 4.0.
